Eco Ayrshire Event

Saturday 31st of August 2019 will see over 27 different groups and organisations come and showcase what is happening in the Ayrshire area that help you to be some more aware and informed about the environment and takes steps today for a sustainable tomorrow.
We have the following organisations supporting Eco Ayrshire 2019:
~Lush (Braehead) will be coming and running bath bomb workshops and fabric gift wrap/headscarf workshops. There is a small charge of the bath bomb making workshop.
~Tearfund Scotland, an International Development Charity who help address issues of poverty and injustice through partnership work with local communities in the developing world and through Advocacy. Learn more about their ‘Rubbish Campaign’
~Octopus Energy offering green energy solutions
~Home Energy Scotland who will offer advice on how to save energy. There will also be the opportunity to pedal your own smoothie on a smoothie bike
~Friends of Fullarton who are a local charity promoting the development of Fullarton Woods. They are looking for your advice about their next steps at the woods.
~Essential Movements physio and movement specialist will help ensure you’re in tip-top shape down staying active and engaged in community projects and the great outdoors
~Mossgeil Milk are bringing a cow-not a real one! They are bringing some of their organic (glass) bottled milk too-they offer mills deliveries to your home.
~Barassie Sea Swimmers a group of (brave?!) swimmers who enjoy swimming in the sea in all
Seasons. You can find out more.
~Ubamboo who create eco-friendly personal hygiene kits for the whole family so you’re all ready for a weekend away.
~Marine Conservation Society a charity who give a voice to the coastline, seas, animals and those gaining a sustainable living from the seas as well as those who visit the beaches and coastline.
~ Scottish Wildlife Trust (Ayrshire Branch) who promote and education biodiversity and care for nature and the environment.
~Leapfrog is the junior branch of the Scottish Wildlife Trust
~Re-Wrap-it who make reusable sandwich wraps. Helping you ditch the cling film.
~Society Zero who will be running a pop-up shop to selling plastic alternatives.
~ Ayrshire Nappy Library to showcase alternatives to disposal nappies and share expertise
~Thistedownseed who create toys and products from natural materials
~Bellisle Rangers who encourage people to engage, learn and look after nature
~Barrmill Conservation Society a group of like-minded people who are committed to making environmental improvements to benefit our community and our local biodiversity
~ The Woodland Trust who seek to educate people and protect and promote native trees in the UK
~Bike Post a local business specialising in bikes and relating equipment and gear. Stockists of Volt e-bikes.
~Ayr Active Travel Hub re working to make our communities healthier by changing travel habits and encouraging people to be more active.
~Troon Allotment Society based at Fullarton Woods aim to build links with the local community by encouraging as many people to engaging in gardening and reduce carbon emission by growing local produce.
~ South Ayrshire Paths Initiative assists in the development & promotion of cycling and walking routes in South Ayrshire.
~Irvine Clean Up Crew, with the aim of cleaning our beach, it’s now our mission to rid the whole town of litter by empowering every resident to get rid of plastics. They will be running a beach clean up.
~Troon the Cycle Friendly Toon who work with residents and stakeholders to develop a coherent and achievable strategy for developing active travel infrastructure in and around Troon
To allow cyclists and walkers safe and healthy access
~Little Acorns run Parent, Carer and Child Groups with nature crafts, baking fresh bread and organic produce. We regularly run outdoor sessions and host festivals from around the seasons for the whole community to enjoy.
~Steps Podiatry a local business specialising in foot care to encourage happy feet and body.
~Opportunities in Retirement promoting local activities and companionship for the over 50s
~Life in Loans aim to inform and stimulate interest in our village and community, encourage participation in activities and promote new ideas. They have loads of ideas!
~Gillian’s Walks Sharing my love for the great Scottish outdoors with like-minded people 🙂
~TCS Eco is a local business specialising in eco-friendly feminine hygiene products
~Freda’s Walks are weekly health walks in and around Dalrymple. The walks are suitable for all abilities. Walk with other people to enjoy the benefits of free exercise
~The Ayrshire Coastal Path (ACP) from Glenapp to Skelmorlie runs 100 miles along one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. Ayrshire Coastal Path path minder volunteers do routine maintenance and promote use of the path.
