It’s the BEST FRIDAY FEELING EVER here at Society Zero C.I.C today!
We have just picked up the keys to our brand new physical shop space in the wonderful west end of Glasgow at the amazing Queen Margaret Drive.
Over the next month we’ll be decorating, putting up gravity dispensers and scoop bins for your plastic free food refills right here in the west end. Keep an eye on our social media for decor updates and how it’s going to look!
Our shop has bus stops literally right outside the shop, a 5 minute walk away from Hillhead subway station, amazing fellow local independent businesses, the meadows right on our doorstep, the Botanics just at the bottom of the road and a great residential area and community groups we are very much looking forward to working with and continuing relationships with.
It’s been quite the journey getting here. In February, a shop space fell through after we gave up pushing for offers on another two, I was beginning to wonder whether we would ever find the right space and then came along this perfect space and it’s even better than the other ones we originally wanted. For two years we have been working towards this, having a unit in Huntershill Village while we were working towards a mobile shop which in the end wasn’t right for us. We’ve continued building up our community, workshops, events, donation schemes, opportunities, working with and supporting marginalised communities and now, we get to do even more of this but from our very own space.
Starting from the idea when studying my degree in Environmental Science in March 2016 (feels like a lifetime ago), juggling 3 kids including the birth of my youngest, putting the idea out there in April 2018, first market stall in August 2018, while juggling schooling and topsy turvy mental health – to now, creating this amazing shop for you all.
Thank you for all of your support and love, we look forward to doing you all proud and welcoming you into the shop.
