This pack of two donut-shaped scourers are compostable and highly durable. They’re multipurpose, making them a perfect addition to your kitchen and replacement for plastic sponges and scourers. They are ethically sourced and made in Sri Lanka from coconut fibre (or coir), neatly wrapped around stainless steel wire.
Each scourer is approximately 10-11cm in diameter and 4cm thick (they’ll last you a long time).
EcoCoconut is an Australian brand created to give people the opportunity to choose biodegradable and sustainable coconut based products over plastic. They believe the next generation care about the amount of plastic waste we produce, and that choice empowers us to make informed decisions to help save our planet from environmental disaster.
EcoCoconut use sustainably farmed coconut fibre to make this product. Coconut fibre is a byproduct of the coconut harvesting process. It is considered a renewable and sustainable product since new crops of coconuts can be regrown repeatedly on the same trees.
EcoCoconut work directly with a manufacturer in Sri Lanka who have won multiple awards for eco manufacturing. The manufacturer has been trading for over 135 years and is a specialist in coir based products – a material that has been part of Sri Lankan daily life for centuries.
Rinse after each use and leave somewhere to dry. You may notice some loose fibres or ‘dust’ on the first few uses due to the natural fibres but this will reduce over time.
At the end of it’s long natural life, it’ll have worn down, so you may be able to see the stainless steel wire which can be put in with recycling and the leftover fibres can be naturally composted.
These scourers are multipurpose and non-scratch, so are suitable for non-stick frying pan and great on hard surfaces like a hob or cooker top. They’re also safe for enamel sinks and baths.
